I must admit that while the thought had crossed my mind, I hadn't taken the time to look over it, so I did a quick Google search and found some companies that offer medical insurance for traveling families, I thought it would be an ardours task to find someone to cover that, and when I did it would be very expensive. I was wrong on both counts. Not only are there several companies that are very reputable available, their rates are more reasonable than what we are currently paying through Susan's employer. - Another obstacle overcome. One step closer.
With insurance out of the way, the next item I know that will be expensive is the actual purchase of the boat. We have decided on a Catamaran, for many reasons that I won't go into now, but that is a must. We need the space and the lack of heeling are primary reasons. So again a quick Google search for used Catamarans and viola - there was a dozen or so well within our budget - in fact significantly below our budget. I don't care if they are 10-15-20 years old, as long as they are sound and safe. Plus when you buy a used boat, you get one that is mostly equipped with all of the trappings needed for cruising. obstacle # 2 out of the way. Boat is affordable, insurance is affordable, and one of the last obstacles - generating income while afloat. I'm still working on that one.
I am hoping that i can write more publications and sell some of the books i am working on, that should help, but it isn't steady until it happens. An article here and there won't do it, but with two major obstacles out of the way, we are closer than ever before. -
Keeping the dream alive, and hoping for all to fall into place soon, real soon. i am ready to cast off lines NOW.
